TokenCalculator.dev

Privacy policy

TokenCalculator offers two intentionally different processing modes. The website calculator and @jay0073/tokencalculator-core process text, extracted document content, source code, and image dimensions locally on your device. The optional public HTTP API processes the payload you explicitly send to its endpoint.

Privacy-first browser calculator

Prompts, files, images, tokenization, and document extraction used in the website calculator remain in your browser and are not uploaded to TokenCalculator.dev. This is the recommended mode for confidential company prompts, private documents, proprietary source code, and other sensitive material.

Public developer API

Requests made to /api/v1/* are transmitted over HTTPS to the API infrastructure so a response can be computed. The application does not intentionally persist request bodies or calculated results, but the hosting and security infrastructure may process standard request metadata such as IP address, user agent, route, timestamp, and request identifiers. Do not send secrets or regulated data to the public API; use the local npm package or browser calculator instead.

Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to measure page visits, session activity, approximate location, and browser or device information. Google Analytics may set first-party cookies beginning with _ga. Analytics is not used to inspect the contents of calculator inputs or API request bodies.

Local browser storage

The site uses local browser storage to remember your theme preference. This setting remains on your device.

Local files

Document text and image dimensions used by the website calculator exist only in the active browser session. Reloading or closing the page removes them.

Public model metadata

The browser may request public pricing and context-limit data from Models.dev. That request contains no prompt, token count, file, or image data.
